Our Senior Pastor
Dr. William E. Flippin, Sr.
The Reverend William E. Flippin, B.A., M. Div., D. Min., is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. He received his education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Business Administration from Fisk University in Nashville, graduating in 1974. In addition, he holds a Master of Divinity degree (Cum Laude) from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia; while in seminar, he was a Benjamin E. Mays Fellow, The Fund for Theological Education. Dr. Flippin also has an earned Doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Faithfully serving as Senior Pastor of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta since 1990, Pastor Flippin has led The Greater Piney Grove to a unique sense of mission and outreach. He also serves as the founder and CEO of The Flippin Legacy Ministries, The Pearl Initiative, Inc. and Pearls of Great Price Ministries, Inc. He is the author of several books, In my Fathers House, Order in the Church, Order in the Pulpit and Gods Order.
Dr. William E. Flippin, Sr is also a proud member of the distinguish Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporation. In 2009, Dr. Flippin was appointed to serve as the National Chair of The Chaplain Corporation of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Recently, he had the distinct honor to travel to Lagos, Nigeria Africa and preach for The Annual 2009 Missions Conference at West African Theological Seminary.
Dr. Flippin has been married for over thirty years to Sylvia Taylor, who is an instructional coach for the Dekalb County Board of Education. Mrs. Flippin is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville and holds a Master's degree in Education from Georgia State University. Dr. and Mrs. Flippin are the proud parents of three sons who continue the family legacy of preaching, Revs. William E., Jr. (Kedra S.), Richard C. and Joseph C. T. (Kendall D.) Flippin and a daughter, Ms. Sylvia Joi who is a student at Clayton State University.
